Highland Tour Guide - Tetts Highland Experience Tours

Your Scottish Highlands Tour Guide

About Me

I was born and raised in the Scottish Highlands.  I am an ex-corporate and love my Guiding Life.  If you want to have a certified tourist guide, a fun day with exciting facts from a native of the Highlands then look no further.  Educated to post-graduate level.   I have spent 14 years as a Buying and Commercial Director(SVP) in 6 different countries, having visited over 50 countries I have developed an admiration for different cultures and ways of life.

My wife and our 3 children, decided it was time to return home to the Scottish Highlands and follow our hearts. We have made our home in Nairn, close to Inverness airport, Whisky Distilleries, Culloden, Castles, Standing Stones, Golf Courses, gorgeous beaches and the most amazing scenery.

I am passionate about the Scottish Highlands, and would love to show you the best of the area, share some stories, explain the history, give you a flavour of life in the Highlands today and help to make your vacation a fun, interesting, memorable one.  I am a qualified guide and a member of both the Scottish Tour Guides Association (STGA) and the Highlands of Scotland Tour Guide Association (HOSTGA). Full indemnity insured and public liability for carrying up to 6 passengers. I have succesfully completed the Scotch Whisky Course.

You will be driven in my Luxury Mercedes V-Class 300 Exclusive (December 25)  with leather seats, privacy glass & air-con with seats for up to 6 passengers, and lots of Luggage space.

I cannot recommend Matthew highly enough.  From his knowledge of all things Scottish, to his wonderful sense of humor, the two days we spend with him were a delight.  Outlander fans will not be disappointed with his tours of Culloden and the Clava Cairns.  His amusing spiel on the royal succession during the 1600s is not to be missed - even a teenager would find it interesting.  The two distilleries we visited were first rate and Sueno’s stone was a nice surprise. Lunch was at a fine small town pub complete with dog. Highly recommended.

Matt is an exceptional tour guide. He is pleasant, engaging, easygoing, flexible, knowledgeable and an excellent driver. We covered approximately 900 miles in 3 1/2 days, visited 10 distilleries and made numerous mid course corrections due to changes we requested as we learned more about the Highlands. In addition to his deep knowledge of distilleries and what each had to offer, he was also knowledgeable about the numerous castles we passed by and the towns we passed through. I highly recommend Matt!!!

Richard Bearden6 reviews6 months agoWhat an experience we had with Matthew! He is an outstanding guide that came through with exactly what I had requested for our tour of the Highlands. Our day started off with an unexpected trip to Inverness Airport in search of lost luggage which without his help, would surely remain in the realm of baggage abyss.
After our frantic search, the remainder of the day went as planned. Matthew seemed more of an old friend rather than just a guide providing facts and figures to our questions. Between tours of a castle, scenic views of the Highland points of interest and an outstanding lunch, there was nonstop conversation with all our family members. This at times could be tricky due to the dialect differences from southern USA to northern Scotland, but eventually all became clear.
Job well done my friend! I hope we cross paths again.

Spent a wonderful 1/2 day private tour with Matthew in Inverness and out to the Culloden battle site.  Matthew is an articulate, knowledgeable and very personable guide. He created an invigorating, enlightening and funny experience. Highly recommended. Hope to tour with him again. Matthew is truly a charismatic legend!

I  would be remiss to not give praise where a public recommendation is  due. If you are planning a trip to Inverness, or the Highlands, I would  encourage you to augment your trip by hiring the upbeat Matthew Tett for  one of his tours. Our group took his two hour information-filled  Inverness Walking Tour. Matthew is a skilled story teller/fact knower,  and as you can see in my photos (on my personal Facebook page), he is  the proud owner of a stockpile of charisma and passion! My daughter  pointed out that she appreciated how he took care to engage with every  person in our group, encouraged questions, and had the ability to make  his audience feel comfortable. Last, but not least, he’ll make you  laugh! He has a sharp wit, a great sense of humor! Matthew, I believe,  will truly make your holiday/vacation, much more memorable.

Matthew was exceptional guide. He was extremely knowledgeable on all things Scotland. Was flexible during the tour to meet our last minute request and provided an excellent recommendation for lunch. We had a 2 year old traveling with us and he was extremely accommodating and played songs for him. His van was comfortable for a tour of 5 adults and 1 car seat. He was extremely passionate and truly made our short visit to Inverness memorable.I  would be remiss to not give praise where a public recommendation is  due.
